Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Joan Marie (Baker) Richmond of Londonderry NH, a loving mother and devoted grandmother.  Joan passed away peacefully on Monday evening, June 16th, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on December 11, 1943, to Katherine (Winchester) and Leo Baker. Joan was raised in Allston, Massachusetts. In her younger years she loved to explore the streets of Boston and often spoke lovingly about her memories of fishing with her beloved late brother Billy.

Joan was married to the late Robert Richmond.  In her thirties, Joan went back to school to earn her associate's degree in nursing.  She graduated with high honors and was a dedicated and compassionate nurse. Joan worked in various fields of nursing, including geriatrics, labor and delivery, and emergency care. She spent much of her career working at the Whidden Hospital in Everett, MA, before her retirement at the age of 70.

Joan had a deep appreciation for the arts, enjoying many trips to museums, the ballet, and the theater. She was passionate about travel and had the opportunity to visit 36 countries around the world.  In her spare time, she was an avid reader, always eager to talk in detail about the books that she was reading.

Above all, she cherished her grandchildren.  She spent countless hours with all of them; her sense of adventure will live on through them.

Joan will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Her memory will live on with her children: Mark Richmond, Julie Mulry and her husband David, Cathy MacKay and her husband David, David Richmond, and Michelle Richmond; as well as her beloved grandchildren, Christopher, Courtney, Emma, Brandon, Tara, Nicholas, Megan, Emily, Abby, and Ryan.

In addition to her parents, Joan was predeceased by her siblings and her daughter, Suzanne Archambeault, and son Robert Richmond.

The family will hold a private service to honor their loved one's memory.

Memorial donations may be made in her name to her favorite charity, the New Hampshire Food Bank, www.nhfoodbank.org or www.Facebook.com/NHFoodBank
