James Patrick
"Jim" Murray Sr.
Mar 30, 1957 — Dec 9, 2025
Haverhill
James "Jim" Patrick Murray Sr., 68, of Haverhill, MA, passed away peacefully on December 9, 2025. He was born on March 30, 1957, in Lawrence, MA, to the late Roland and Marguerite (Canney) Murray.
Jim was raised in Lawrence, where he attended local schools. He was an avid sports fan, with the Bruins and Red Sox having held a special place in his heart. Jim enjoyed spending time with his family during the holidays and summer BBQs by the pool. He could often be found surrounded by his friends at AmVets Post 147 on Primrose Street in Haverhill, where he has been a Son of AmVets since 2005, and served as a Squadron Chaplain.
Jim was a family man, who showed up in every aspect for his beloved children and granddaughters. He was always ready with a "dad joke" and forever spinning exaggerated tales of his wild adventures.
Jim is survived by his children, Heather Stannard and her husband Derek of Methuen, MA, James "Jim" Murray Jr. and his wife Stephanie of Londonderry, NH; granddaughters, Evelyn Rose Murray, Alexandra Grace Murray, and Sienna Jane Stannard; brother, Richard "Rick" Murray and his wife Corinne; Sister-in-law Patricia Murray; Best Ex-wife ever (his words) Denise O'Connor; several nieces and nephews, and of course, his beloved cat, Sox.
In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his brother Stephen "Steve" Murray.
Visitation will be held on Monday, December 15, 2025, from 4-7pm, at the Carrier Family Funeral Home, 38 Range Road, Windham, NH 03087. A Funeral Mass will then follow on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, beginning at 11AM, at St. Matthew's Parish, 2 Searles Road, Windham, NH 03087.
