James M. "Jim" Haney, 31, of Salem, NH, passed away on Friday, March 15, 2024, at Exeter Hospital, with his family by his side. He was born on July 21, 1992, to Michael and Mary (Dougherty) Haney, in Stoneham, MA.
From a young age, Jim made a great impact in his community of Hampstead. Along with help from his parents, Jim started the Challenger Little League, bringing children from the surrounding communities to play baseball. Jim also loved to listen to music, whether it was in concert or at home, and especially reggae. Jim will always be known as an easy-going man and a great listener for anyone who needed to talk.
Jim's family would like to thank the Wheeler Ave Group Home and its staff for their years of endless compassion and care for Jim throughout his life. They always brought out the best in him.
In addition to his parents, Jim is survived by his sister: Meredith Haney, and her fiancé Bryan Sullivan, of Raleigh, NC; his grandparents: Jeanne Dougherty, the late Robert Dougherty and Virginia Dougherty, and the late Maxine and Carl Haney; his aunts and uncles: Jim Dougherty, and Susan of Medford, MA, Paul Dougherty, of Medford, MA, Kathleen Andre, and Charles, of Medford, MA, Edward and Donna Dougherty, of Londonderry, NH, Patrick Dougherty, of Boston, MA, Maureen and Nick Thomas, of Burlington, MA, Jeanne and Sean McDonald, of Burlington, MA, and Patti Haney, of Arizona; as well as many cousins, friends, special teachers, therapists, and caregivers, all of which held a special place in Jim's heart.
Friends and family are invited to Calling Hours on Wednesday, March 20, 2024, from 9:30-11:30 AM, at the Carrier Family Funeral Home, 38 Range Road, Windham, NH 03087. A Funeral Service will begin at 11:30 AM, at the funeral home. Interment will take place at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford, MA. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a memorial contribution to the Kimmi Nichols Center, 17 East Road, Plaistow, NH 03865.
