Obituary

James (Jim) W. Healy passed away peacefully on November 26, 2024, at age 95, in Windham, NH. He was born to Thomas and Marie (Smith) in Somerville, MA, on January 3, 1929.  He survived his older brother, Tom, his younger sister, Elizabeth (Betty), and younger brother, Jack.

Jim raised his family in Wakefield with his loving wife, Marie (Bergen).  He later married Sandra (Richardson), with whom he was married for 35 years.  Sadly, Sandy passed just hours before Jim on the same day.  Sandy's family was a large part of Jim's life as well. Jim is survived by his children Diane, Jim, and David (Carol); his three grandchildren Stevie, Jocelyn, and Graycie; and his great-grandson Brayden.

Jim attended Somerville High School before enlisting in the US Army in the closing months of WWII. He was stationed in Japan as a paratrooper/rifleman following the Japanese surrender and occupation.

After he served his country, Jim attended Northeastern University, and with his hard work, dedication, and the benefits he earned as a WWII veteran, he excelled in mechanical engineering.

At a young age, Jim founded Cambridge Engineering, which later became Healy Systems, a leader in gasoline vapor recovery.  His patented technology was installed in over 100,000 fueling stations worldwide.

Due to his dedication and focus for more than sixty years as a mechanical engineer (PME), Jim applied for and was granted over 90 US patents during his lifetime.

Jim enjoyed golfing, sailing, and spending the winters in Florida with Sandy when not enjoying his family in Hollis, NH.  He lived a long, fulfilling life and will truly be missed.

A private family celebration will take place at a later date. Arrangements are in the care of the Carrier Family Funeral Home, 38 Range Road, Windham, NH 03087. To leave a message of condolence, please visit www.carrierfuneralhome.com
