Obituary

James M. Graham, 87, of Salem, NH passed away on Monday morning, April 24th, 2023 at the Aspen Hill Center in Haverhill, MA.

Jim was born in Lowell, Mass on February 23, 1936, to James P. Graham  and Josephine (McCaughey) Graham. He attended St. Peter's School and graduated from Lowell High School, where he was a star baseball player. Jim went on to serve in the United States Army, where he played for the Fort Benning baseball team. At the conclusion of his service, Jim began his career as a machinist, working for Pratt & Whitney, before completing his career with General Electric. He retired at the age of 55 and was truly able to enjoy his retirement. He and his wife, Elaine traveled extensively throughout Europe and spent winters at their home in Punta Gorda, Florida.

Throughout his life, Jim was always keeping busy. When his children were young, he would attend every single one of their sporting events. As he became a grandfather, he enjoyed being part of every milestone that he could; from kindergarten graduations to sporting events. He, himself enjoyed playing golf and tennis. Jim was an avid fan of New England professional sports teams. He was also a past Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus 4027 in Methuen.

Jim is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Elaine (Petralia) Graham; his children, James M Graham Jr. & his wife Cathy of Manchester, NH, Shawn Graham and his wife Pattiann of Seabrook Beach, NH, and Julie Ann Nelson and her husband Rod of North Port, FL; his grandchildren, Andrew Nelson, Evan Graham, Meghan Graham, Josh Graham, Emma Graham, Lily Graham and great granddaughter Arielle Nelson; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to his parents, Jim was predeceased by his brother, Michael Graham.

Calling hours will be private for the family. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, April 29th at 11am at St. Joseph Church, 40 Main Street, Salem, NH 03079. Burial will also be private for the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude's Childrens Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place • Memphis, TN 38105.
