Obituary

James Louis Garner, loving husband, father, son, brother, and uncle, died on September 8, 2024, in Windham, New Hampshire.

He was born on November 7, 1956, in San Diego, CA. Eager to join the family and begin getting into mischief with his 3-year-old brother Mark, Jim arrived 3 months before his due date, weighing just 3lbs 9oz. His mother and fierce advocate, Louise, made sure he got transferred to a hospital that could provide the care he needed to survive. Jim thrived, giving everyone a preview of the strength and resilience that would characterize him throughout his life.

Jim's love of music and spirit of adventure revealed itself early when his father, Herb, brought home an abandoned accordion. 12-year-old Jim learned how to play it so well that he formed a band with a few friends. "The Geometric Forms" was booked for local events and parties.
Loving the outdoors and seeking thrills beyond the accordion, Jim rode mini-bikes, ATVs, motorcycles, and even learned to pilot an ultra-light plane.

On September 23, 2000, Jim married the love of his life, Doreen Rivers, and became stepfather to her two wonderful sons, Jeremy and Joshua. They lived a beautiful life on the lake, enjoying kayaking, jet-skiing, and excursions on the party boat.

Jim's sense of humor was one of the many things that made him lovable. He could always be counted on to share hilarious jokes and wear T-shirts that provided amusement on-sight-like the one that read, "In dog beers I've only had one."

Professionally, Jim had an extraordinary work ethic. He had a long career in circuit board manufacturing and was known for implementing very profitable quality-enhancing improvements and efficiencies.

Jim was a proud 10-year member of the Londonderry Fish and Game Club, and the National Rifle Association. In retirement, he enjoyed lending a hand at Murphy's Law gun shop and TND Inc. metal shop, where he said he met some of the best!

Jim is survived by his loving wife Doreen; stepsons Jeremy and his wife Genevieve, and Joshua; step-grandchildren, Austin and Savannah, his mother, Louise; sisters, Mary Ann and Lynn; sister-in-law Eiko; nephew Christopher, niece Stephanie; and dogs Toby and Leroy.

He was predeceased by his father Herb, brother Mark, sister Diana, and brother-in-law Jim Barr.

Jim's bright spirit will live vibrantly in the memories of his family and friends, and he will be loved and missed forever.

Services will be held in California and will be private for the family.

Arrangements are in the care of the Carrier Family Funeral Home, 38 Range Road, Windham, NH 03087.
