James W. Fitzgerald Jr., 65, of Auburn, NH, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, February 2, 2024, in Derry, NH. He was born on August 6, 1958, to the late James W. and Esther S. (Walsh) Fitzgerald, in Somerville, MA.
After high school, James enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, proudly serving his country until his honorable discharge in 1982.
A lifelong mechanic, in his early years James worked for ABC Bus Company. In 1987, he took over the family business Bruce's Garage, which he operated until his retirement a few years ago.
In what little time James did not spend working, he filled his time with his many hobbies. James enjoyed riding his motorcycle, camping, snowmobiling and working on his 1942 Chevrolet Pickup. He was a member of the New Hampshire SnowSlickers, and the Long Sand Sinners in Ossipee, NH. Above all, his world revolved around his family and especially his grandchildren.
James is survived by his wife: Carlene Jean (Woods) Fitzgerald; his children: Thomas Dube, of Auburn, NH, Robert Fitzgerald, of Manchester, NH, Amy Sibert, of Hanover, PA, Michael J. Fitzgerald, and his wife Tara Perron, of Auburn, NH, James Fitzgerald III, and his wife Jessie, of Raymond, NH, and Kaitlin Butler, her husband Eric, of Hillsborough, NH; his siblings, Lydia, Kathy, Theresa, Gale, John and Paul; 11 grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, James is also predeceased by his son Heith Fitzgerald.
Calling Hours will be held on Friday, February 9th, 2024, from 4-8 PM, at the Carrier Family Funeral Home, 38 Range Road, Windham, NH 03087. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday morning, February 10th 2024, at 10 AM, at Mary Queen of Peace, 200 Lawrence Road, Salem, NH 03079.
