Irene Lena (Morin) Sancoff, 98, of Windham, NH, passed away on Monday evening, September 2nd, 2024.
She was born on April 18, 1926, to Irene (Bernardin) and Ernest Morin. Irene was raised in Lawrence, MA, and was a graduate of both the Notre Dame Academy in Tyngsboro, and Katharine Gibbs Secretarial School in Boston. She was employed as a secretary at Morin's Restaurant and Harvard College before leaving home for Japan. Once in Japan, Irene was employed in government service as a secretary in Yokohama. This is where she met the love of her life, James Sancoff. The two were married on July 26, 1953.
Irene was a devoted wife and mother. She was a devoted Catholic and wonderful homemaker, who loved spending time with her family. Irene loved baking, reading, and playing the piano by ear. She enjoyed spending time in West Paris, ME.
She is survived by her children, Eric Sancoff and his wife Doris of Sandown, NH, Renee Hurst of Fort Myers, FL, Gregory Sancoff of Durham, NH, Yvonne Cronin and her husband Robert of Candia, NH, and Peter Sancoff and his wife Carole of Derry, NH; her grandchildren, Leah, Luke, Rachel, James, Elizabeth, Blake, Erica, Peter Jr, Alex, Julie, and Suzanne; her ten great-grandchildren; and her sister, Natalie Leimkuhler and her husband Ferd of California.
In addition to her parents, Irene was predeceased by her husband, James Sancoff; her brother, Ernest Morin; and her sister, Suzanne Higgins.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, September 6th, from 10 to 11am, at St. Matthew's Parish, 2 Searles Road, Windham, NH 03087. A Funeral Mass will immediately follow at 11am at the church. Burial will be private for the family.
