Irene Barbara Ann Butkier, 98, formerly of Groveland, MA passed away on Wednesday, April 12, 2023 in Haverhill, Massachusetts .

Irene was born on September 24th, 1924, to Catherine Irene (Barrett) Froehlich and Frederick Froehlich. She was raised in Ridgewood, Queens, NY. Following graduation from Dominican Commercial High School, Irene worked for Congressman Eugene Keogh and then Western Electric. She married the love of her life, George W. Butkier in 1946, immediately  after he returned  from military service.  The couple raised their family in Briarcliff Manor, NY. They also lived in Boca Raton, FL and most recently Nichols Village in Groveland, MA

Irene  and George enjoyed ballroom dancing, golf, dining out and taking trips abroad, especially to London, as George worked for Pan Am for many years. Irene liked to shop at B. Altman in NY, collect English  bone china and drive her Buick Century.

Irene is survived by her children: Sharon Jarosz and her husband, Joseph of Atkinson, NH and Kevin Butkier and his wife Bong Hee of Duluth, GA; her daughter-in-law, Carolyn Butkier of Bradenton, FL; her grandchildren, Michelle Moore and her husband Bob, Brian Lord and his wife Amelia, Kathryn Valente and her husband JR, Thomas Butkier and his wife Susan, Kristin Jarosz, and Alyssa Butkier ; as well as her great-grandchildren, Andrew Moore, Arthur Lord,  Jonathan Valente and Alejandro Lord.

In addition to her parents, Irene was predeceased by her husband, George W. Butkier in 2007; her son, Brian W. Butkier in 2008 and her sister, Muriel Fay in 2009.
