Obituary

Homer D. Shannon, 70, of Windham, NH passed away September 7, 2022, after a sudden and brief battle with cancer.

The 40-year resident of Windham is survived by his wife Denise (Allard); his three sons: Adam and his partner Maggie; Carl, his wife Colleen, and their two daughters; and Bradley and his wife Jamie.  Homer is also survived by his two sisters: Barbara and her husband Steve Tincher, and Fay and her husband Lonie Davenport, nephew Bobby, and niece Shannon.  Homer is predeceased by his father John, mother Virginia (Carnes), and older brother John Robert.

Born July 12, 1952, in Cambridge, MA, Homer grew up in Hingham, MA and Manchester-by-the-Sea, MA.  An avid sailor, Homer helmed the "Cinderella," moored at the American Yacht Club in Newburyport, MA, where he was an active member for many years.  Homer developed a talent for photography and focused much of his time behind the camera lens, capturing photos of "just about everything; events, landscapes, portraits, marine subjects… anything but a wedding" ( www.anythingbutawedding.com ).  An amateur handyman, Homer spent many weekends working on home improvements, car repairs, and boat maintenance.  Homer had a natural ability to connect with people, and will be remembered for his ever-present smile, welcoming nature, and unquenchable interest in learning more about people, places, and things.

Calling hours for Homer will be on Tuesday, September 13, 2022, at 4:00 p.m., ending at 7:00 p.m., at Carrier Family Funeral Home & Crematory, 38 Range Rd, Route 111, Windham, NH.  A celebration of life ceremony will be announced at a later date.
