Herbert Daniel Allen

Herbert “Herb” Daniel Allen, 83, of Salisbury, MA, passed away on Sunday morning, July 5th, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.

Herb was born on October 31, 1942, to Mary A. (Donahue) and Herbert R. Allen. He was raised in Lawrence, Massachusetts, attended local schools, and went on to earn his associate’s degree in drafting at Boston Technical School. Herb spent his forty year career working as a lineman with National Grid.

As a young father, Herb was very involved in Methuen youth hockey. Later in life, he enjoyed doing research into family ancestry, dining out, seeing shows, and traveling around Europe. Most of all, he loved time spent with family.

Herb is survived by his children, son Christopher Allen, daughter Carin Duteau and her husband Bob, and son Patrick and his wife Michelle, his grandchildren, Devon Allen, Brooke Allen, and Brienna Duteau; and his life partner Rita Vallante.

In addition to his parents, Herb was predeceased by his wife of 50 years, Donna (Young) Allen, and his sister, Kathy Deacy.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, July 9th from 10am to 12pm, with a Service beginning at 12pm, at the Carrier Family Funeral Home, 38 Range Road, Windham, NH 03087.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations will be made to Tunnels to Towers or St. Jude’s Childrens Research Hospital.
