Helen Marie Edwards, 73, of Merrimack, NH passed away on Monday, May 13th, 2024, at Southern NH Medical Center in Nashua.

She was born on July 19, 1950, to Louise (Larsen) and Dennis Callahan. Helen was raised in Cambridge, MA and attended local schools. She married the love of her life, James Edwards, on September 15th, 1973, and the couple brought up their family in Somerville, MA and Salem, NH.

Helen was a homemaker who raised not only her own children, but enjoyed a long career in childcare. She worked closely with her sister Ann in an in-home daycare and then later opened her own childcare business in her home. She later worked for Dynamics in Salem.

Helen was known by all as an incredibly warm and loving person who found the best in everyone who crossed her path. She was endlessly patient, always thoughtful, and had a quiet way of making your day brighter just with her presence and her smile.

She enjoyed daily walks with friends and exploring in nature. Other interests included making ceramics, playing bingo with friends, reading, and jigsaw puzzles.

Helen was a wonderful wife, incredible mom, and doting Nana. She and Jim recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 2023. She enjoyed spending her weekends with her children and their families whenever she could and was known for her delicious potato salad and stuffed shells. As her grandchildren's biggest cheerleader, she attended every dance recital and school play, praised each accomplishment, and proudly displayed photos of all four throughout her home.

Her compassion, beautiful heart, and love continue to radiate even after her untimely passing. She is deeply missed by her family.

She is survived by her beloved husband, James "Jim" Edwards; her children, Cindy Edwards and her husband Douglas Corbett of Nashua, NH, and James Edwards and his wife Laura of Amherst, NH; her grandchildren, Fiona Corbett, Declan Corbett, Callan Edwards, and Keira Edwards; her brothers, Dennis "Denny" Callahan and his wife Marie, and Paul Callahan; as well as many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her sister, Ann Garabedian and her husband Sarkis; her brother Jerry Callahan and his wife Cathy; and her sister-in law, Deborah "Tiny" Callahan.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, May 17th from 4 to 6pm, at the Carrier Family Funeral Home, 38 Range Road, Windham, NH 03087. A Funeral Service will immediately follow at 6pm at the funeral home followed by a mercy meal at the same location.
