Gur (George) Dayal Singh passed peacefully at home with his son by his side on the night of March 5, 2025. Born in Punjab, India, Gur was raised in New Delhi and from an early age pursued education as his way to advance and contribute to society. Gur graduated from Delhi Polytechnic University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He worked as an engineer in Bombay, India until he earned a graduate school scholarship to the University of Minnesota. He arrived in Minneapolis without a winter coat, but through the kindness of his host family learned to adapt to a new climate and excelled at his coursework, eventually graduating with honors and a job offer at Boeing in Seattle, Washington where he worked on engine designs for the first 747 jumbo jets.

Before Gur could start his new job at Boeing, he fulfilled a promise to his mother and travelled back to India to marry Prem Kumari Singh, and begin a partnership lasting 56 years until Prem's passing in 2023. Gur and Prem lived in Seattle and then Jackson, Michigan before settling in Burlington, Massachusetts where they raised their three children.

Inspired to provide his family with the best future possible, Gur obtained his MBA while working full time as an engineer at Stone & Webster where he designed nuclear power plants. In the mid-eighties, Gur was bit by the entrepreneurial bug and started his first business—a video rental store in Lowell—and by 1987 had established one of the first thriving technology services companies located in what was described as the Silicon Valley of the East. Gur remained in the technology industry until his early eighties. With each success, he affirmed the reality of the American dream and garnered deep pride and gratitude from his family.

Gur accomplished all of this despite his severe heart condition, which he battled valiantly for decades under the primary supervision of Dr. Charles Boucher and a host of talented physicians at Mass General Hospital. He will be remembered for his strength, his pioneering spirit, but mostly for his gin rummy prowess, the twinkle in his eyes and the witty, often unexpected one-liners that always resulted in a hearty, belly laugh

Gur is lovingly remembered by his daughter, Reena Kumari Singh, daughter Anita Kumari Moser and her husband, Sunil Richard Moser, son, Amar Kumar Singh and his wife, Anna Vivian Singh; and precious granddaughter Annika Kumari Moser.

Funeral Services for Gur will be held on Wednesday, March 12, 2025 from 11:00am to 1:00pm, at the Carrier Family Funeral Home and Crematory, 38 Range Road, in Windham, New Hampshire. Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend.
