Gerda F. Todt, 83, of Windham, NH passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 23, 2024, at the Elliot Hospital with her daughter, Nancy, by her side.
She was born on December 10, 1940, in Czechoslovakia, to Friedhilda (Rotter) and Johann Winkler. Gerda was raised in Germany and immigrated to the United States at the age of 19 where she later became a U.S. Citizen. Her love story with Johann "John" Todt began with them meeting as pen pals, living states apart. They were wed in 1960 and made their home in Andover, Massachusetts. In addition to raising her three children, Gerda also ran a daycare for many years. She was a devoted and loving mother and Mimi, with a hilarious spunky side. Gerda loved being outdoors, taking her family on camping and hiking trips in the White Mountains as well as many trips to the beach where she loved to float over the ocean waves. She enjoyed baking, especially at Christmas time but her biggest joy was spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandson.
Gerda is survived by her daughter, Nancy Esmel of Manchester, NH, daughter, Kathy Scionti and her husband Dean of Salem, NH, and son, John Todt and his wife Melissa, of Salem, NH; her grandchildren, Karli, Cody, Megan, Trevor, John, and Ryan; her great-grandson, Zeke; family as well as many friends.
In addition to her parents, Gerda was predeceased by her beloved husband, John, and her siblings.
Calling hours will be held on Monday, October 28th, from 4 to 6pm, at the Carrier Family Funeral Home, 38 Range Road, Windham, NH 03087. A Funeral Service will immediately follow at 6pm, at the funeral home with catering in the function hall after. Burial will take place on Tuesday morning, at 11am, at New Plains Cemetery, 8 Ministerial Rd. in Windham.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place • Memphis, TN 38105.
