Ret. Methuen, MA Deputy Fire Chief Gerald "Jerry" Godin, 76 of Methuen, MA, entered the afterlife peacefully at his home on Thursday, June 15th, surrounded by his loving family.

Jerry was born in Lawrence, MA to the late Alyre and Arline (Nadeau) Godin. He grew up and was educated in Lawrence, attended Central Catholic and graduated from Lawrence High School and earned his Associates Degree in Fire Science from North Shore Community College. He was a resident of Methuen for the past 55 years and spent the last twenty winters in Englewood, Florida with his loving and devoted wife, Barbara, (Babs).

Retired Deputy Fire Chief Jerry Godin proudly served the City of Methuen serving the community for 32 years on Methuen Fire Department and was a proud US Navy veteran. He was a member of the American Legion in Methuen, the Derry Salem Elks Lodge in Salem, NH, and a member of the IAFF. Jerry enjoyed relaxing whilst cooking and/or watching cooking shows, car shows, boating, and the outdoors. Keeping up-to-date daily via the Eagle Tribune was always how he started his day. Although not a sports player himself, Jerry enjoyed watching the Patriots games (as long as they were winning!) with the gang at the Relief's In. He also loved going to car shows and enjoyed rebuilding vehicles. Jerry thrived being a hands-on learner. He got a charge out of doing electrical work with friends and mentors starting with the USN as an ICS while stationed on the U.S.S. Nereus.

Jerry is survived by his beloved wife Barbara (Styers) Godin of Methuen, formerly of San Diego, with whom he shared an amazing 55 years of love, laughs, motorcycle trips, and countless other adventures. Also, his beloved cat, who was always by Jerry's side.

Jerry and Barbara have two children - Michelle Godin of Methuen, MA and her boyfriend Brenden DiMauro, and Michael Godin of Clinton, MA and his girlfriend Eileen Cronin.

Jerry also leaves behind his brothers Ret. Methuen Dept Fire Chief Ronald and his wife Elaine Godin of Moultonborough, NH, and Garry and his wife JoAnn Godin of Arkansas (formerly of Derry, NH), and several nieces and nephews who all loved their Uncle Jerry.

Family, friends and others whose lives Jerry touched are invited to meet on Saturday, June 24th by 9:45AM at Methuen's Park and Ride at 144 Pelham Street to form a procession which will go past the Methuen Central Fire Station on Lowell Street for Jerry's final salute. The procession will depart at 10AM (from Pelham St P&R) and end at the Relief's In, 1 Market St, Lawrence, MA for Jerry's Celebration of Life service and light refreshments (cash bar). A brief funeral service and burial with Navy honors will take place at 10AM on Tuesday, June 27th in Elmwood Cemetery, Methuen, MA. All are welcome. Thank you.
