It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Francis Joseph Ahearn, 80.

Born March 28, 1946, in Waterbury, CT to the late Edward and Theresa (Proulx) Ahearn.

Frank was raised in Lawrence Massachusetts alongside his siblings, Jim and Rosemary. He was a graduate of Lawrence High School, Class of 1964. After graduation, Frank joined the US Navy where he proudly served for four years as a signal man on several Battleships in and around Cameron Bay, Vietnam. Frank was awarded a National Defense Service Medal, a Vietnam Service Medal with two Bronze Stars in addition to a Vietnam Campaign Medal with Device.

Upon returning to the United States, Frank became a Master Electrician working for local companies before joining the Lawrence Fire Department where he was the Superintendent of the Fire Alarm Division until his retirement in 2011.

Frank was a parishioner of Saint Anthony's Maronite Church, where he was also a member of the choir. He also enjoyed vacationing at Salisbury Beach with family every summer.

Frank was the loving husband of the late Elaine (Kalil), the devoted brother of Jim Ahearn (Wendy) and the late Rosemary Runner. In addition, he was the brother-in-law to Eli (Sandy) Kalil and George (Susan) Kalil. Frank was a loving and devoted uncle to his several nieces and nephews. In particular, he shared a special relationship with his and his late wife's niece and godchild, Jaclyn Kalil.

In addition to his parents, Frank was predeceased by his late wife's parents: Eli and Helen Kalil, and his sister-in-law: Carol Kalil.

Friends and family are welcome to pay their respects, Wednesday, April 15, from 9:30 am until 10:30 am, immediately followed by a Funeral Mass, St. Anthony's Maronite Church, Lawrence, Massachusetts. Interment following the Service at St Anthony's Maronite Cemetery, N Lowell Street, Methuen, MA where inurnment will take place in the garden mausoleum alongside his late wife, Elaine.
