Florence
Paparian
Oct 27, 1924 — Jun 4, 2025
Salem
Florence Paparian, beloved matriarch, peacefully passed away at age 100 on Tuesday, June 4, 2025, at Greystone Farm in Salem, New Hampshire.
Born in Jamaica Estates, Queens, she was the cherished daughter of the late Hovagim and Armenouhie (Kourbetian) Thomasian.
Florence spent her formative years in Queens, where she completed her education before beginning her career at an import company in Manhattan. Through dedication and skill, she advanced to the position of office manager.
Her life took a romantic turn during a summer vacation at the Hye Hotel in Asbury Park, NJ. There she met Albert Paparian, and their immediate connection blossomed. The couple married and established their home in Latham, New York, where they lived together for over 50 years.
Florence delighted in preparing meals and opening her home to friends and family for memorable gatherings. Her kitchen was often the heart of these cherished occasions, filled with the aromas from her cooking.
Florence's faith was central to her life as a devoted member of St. Peter's Armenian Church. For many years, she taught the Armenian language to children of her fellow parishioners, helping preserve cultural traditions for future generations.
In her leisure time, Florence found joy in Cuban-style music and dancing, visiting her cousin Rose Demerjian in Spring Lake, NJ and taking annual trips to Florida. However, her greatest happiness came from precious moments spent with her children and grandchildren, who were the light of her life.
Florence leaves behind a loving family including her sons Seth Paparian (Pat) and Glenn Paparian (Rene); grandchildren Curtis Paparian (Nicole), Jenna McSheffrey (Shawn), Jack Paparian (Rachel), and Dean Paparian (Lexi); great-granddaughter Sofia Paparian; and numerous beloved extended family members who will miss her dearly.
She was preceded in death by her devoted husband Albert Paparian and her brother Leo Thomasian (Astrid).
Private interment services will be held at Cedar Grove Cemetery in Flushing, New York. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Carrier Family Funeral Home, located at 38 Range Road, Windham, NH 03087.
