Eleanor (Benner) Childs, 85, of Windham, NH passed away on Tuesday evening, April 11th, 2023 at the Parkland Medical Center.

She was born on June 12, 1937 to Freida (Uhl) and Clayton Benner. Eleanor was raised in Lawrence, MA and attended local schools. Eleanor married the love of her life; Raymond J. Childs Sr. and the couple raised their family in Windham. She retired from AT & T. They  were the owners of Childs Plaza in Salem, NH for many years.

Eleanor enjoyed reading, traveling, taking trips to Las Vegas, and spending time with her cat Jerry.

Eleanor is survived by, Raymond J. Childs Jr. and his wife, Kimberly of Pelham, NH; Karen Dumont and her husband, Thomas  Dumont of Dunstable, MA; her five grandchildren, Raymond III, Ryan, and Jennifer Childs, Derek Dumont and Jessica Ensko; her sisters, Barbara Benner and Freida LaRoche; and her brother, George Benner; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Eleanor was predeceased by her loving husband of 47 years, Raymond J. Childs, Sr. She was also predeceased by her sister, Betty Shawcross.

Calling hours will be held on Saturday, April 15th from 9am to 11am, at the Carrier Family Funeral Home, 38 Range Road Windham, NH 03087. A funeral service will immediately follow at the funeral home at 11am. Interment will be held at Elmwood Cemetery in Methuen, MA.
