Efterpi Nionakis, 92, of Derry, NH, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 22, 2025, at Parkland Medical Center, with her loving family by her side.

Effie was born on June 2, 1932, in Xios, Greece to the late Pantelis and Viryinia Papafigkou. She moved to the United States in the early 1960's, settling in Haverhill, MA. She worked alongside her family at their business, Elpis Bakery, in Lafayette Square.

Efterpi was a true matriarch of her family, caring for her husband, children, and grandsons. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends in the U.S. and Greece.

She is predeceased by her husband Nicholas Nionakis; her children John "Yanni" Nionakis and Despina Papadopoulos; and her brother Antonis Papafigkou.

Effie is survived by her grandsons Nicholas, Lee, and Costas Papadopoulos. Costa's family Michael, Deana and Athanasios; her sister Ioanna Agoraki; and Yanni's family, Nancy, Tim, Lindsay, Max, and Penelope.

Friends and family are invited to visitation on Thursday, March 27, 2025, from 10 – 11:30 AM at Holy Apostles Saints Peter and Paul Greek Orthodox Church, 154 Winter Street, Haverhill, MA.
