Edward H. Russell, 81, of Windham, NH, died peacefully surrounded by his family at the High Pointe Hospice House, Haverhill, MA.
Ed was born in Danvers, MA, where he grew up and was educated. He later attended Wentworth Institute and received his Bachelor's Degree from Lowell University and his Master's Degree from NH College. He was a retired Colonel, serving in the US Army National Guard for 37 plus years. Ed was a resident of Windham, NH for the past 52 years.
Ed owned and operated GAM Electronics in Manchester, NH. In retirement, he worked as a paraprofessional in the Special Education Department at Pinkerton Academy, in Derry, NH. He was an active member of St. Matthew Parish in Windham, NH, where he was a Eucharistic Minister, a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus and a former teacher of Religious Education. He was also a member of the Dugout Club, a group of military retirees. He enjoyed racquetball in his early years, golf, his daily crossword puzzle and was a football enthusiast. Most of all, Ed adored his family, and loved to attend all of his grandchildren's activities. Ed lived an honorable life with deep devotion to his family, his faith and his country.
Ed is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Patricia (Durkee) Russell of Windham, NH.
Daughters: Deborah Russell and wife Debra Lownds of Hooksett, NH, Pamela Jarvis and Kevin Lane of Hooksett, NH, Jennifer Russell and wife Connie Losacano-Russell of Litchfield, NH, and Heather and husband Matthew Graves of Windham, NH.
Brother: James and his wife Lorraine Russell of Danvers, MA
Sister: Jean and her husband Thomas Dover of East Bridgewater, NJ
Grandchildren: Megan and fiance' Cooper, Owen, Tyler, Jenny and fiance' Showly, Lauren, Kari, Kylie, Sydney and husband Spencer Sullivan, Connor, Gillian, and Caitrin.
Former Son in Law: Brian Jarvis and his children Ethan and Hunter
Several Nieces and Nephews from Massachusetts and New Jersey.
Friends and relatives are invited to calling hours on Monday, February 13 th from 4-7 PM at the Carrier Family Funeral Home, 38 Range Rd, Windham, NH. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, February 14 th at 11 AM at St. Matthew Parish, Windham, NH. The funeral will be live streamed at 11 AM at www.stmatthew-nh.org
Burial with military honors will be held on Wednesday, February 15 th at 10 AM at the NH State Veterans Cemetery, Boscawen, NH.
