Obituary

Edward "Ted" J. Lynch, 74, of Windham, NH, passed away on November 15, 2025, surrounded by his family.
Born and raised in Lowell, MA, Ted graduated from Keith Academy and later from Merrimack College. He dedicated 34 years to teaching high school math, spending most of his career at Greater Lowell Technical High School. Ted was known by everyone—family, friends, colleagues, students, and neighbors—for his intelligence, clever wit, extraordinary patience, and unwavering kindness.
Growing up, Ted was a steady and caring presence for his younger sisters. He was known for his gentle nature, thoughtfulness, and warm, easy smile, and he had a way of seeing the good in people that made them feel valued and appreciated.
A lifelong football enthusiast, Ted's passion for the sport became a cherished family bond. Whether kicking field goals, talking strategy, watching a game, or cheering on the Patriots, he found joy in every moment connected to football. That love was passed on to his son and eventually to his grandson, turning the sport into a family thread woven through generations. He also spent many years coaching and supporting local youth sports, where his calm demeanor, positive spirit, and unwavering encouragement made a lasting impact. In recent years, he could also be found on the sidelines proudly cheering on his grandchildren in various sports and celebrating all of their endeavors with immense pride.
Above all else, Ted was happiest when surrounded by his family. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 50 years, Jane (Obara) Lynch; his beloved son, Justin Lynch, and Justin's wife, Julie, of Litchfield; and his cherished grandchildren, Brady and Morgan, whom he adored. He also leaves behind his treasured and supportive siblings—Phil Lynch, Rosemary Lynch, and Christine Quinn—and their families, including many nieces and nephews.
Ted was predeceased by his parents, Edward H. Lynch and Marcelle (Bourget) Lynch of Lowell.
His family remains deeply grateful for the countless ways Ted touched the lives around him—through his teaching, mentorship, and the loving care he offered to family and friends alike. His character, kindness, and gentle wisdom will continue to live on in all those he taught, guided, supported, and loved.
Per his wishes, there will be no funeral services at this time. For those who wish to honor Ted through a donation, the family suggests the New England Patriots Foundation, which supports STEM education and youth sports development—causes that reflect his lifelong passions. There is truly no obligation; any charity close to your heart—especially those supporting young people in sports or education—would be a meaningful way to honor him. Above all, the greatest tribute is to carry forward his legacy of kindness, patience, and recognizing the good in others. And in true Ted fashion, his family invites you to take a moment with those you love, cheer on the Patriots, and think of him with a smile.
Arrangements are under the care of the Carrier Family Funeral Home, 38 Range Road, Windham, NH 03087.
