Douglas S. Dresser, 79, of East Hampstead, NH, passed away on Thursday, December 12, 2024, with his loving family by his side.

Douglas was born on January 16, 1945, to the late Malcolm and Harriet (O'Connell) Dresser in White Plains, NY.

After graduating from Boston College, he enlisted in the United States Army Reserves, where he proudly served for 6 years.

Douglas is survived by his cherished wife of 55 years, Sheila (Kelly) Dresser; his sons Kevin Dresser and his wife Stacy of Stratham, NH; Brian Dresser and his wife Heather of Hooksett, NH and his grandchildren Nicholas, Elliot, Santina, Ian, and Alex; and his sisters Alice Pusateri and Betsy Rufo. In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his sister Fran Soucy.

Douglas (or 'Mr. Dresser' as close friends & familyaffectionately knew him by) married the love of his life, Sheila, on August 24, 1969 in Red Bank, NJ and they made a home in Plainville, MA before settling in Merrimack, NH in 1975. Douglas spent his career as a sales manager where he relished in visits and conversations with his customers throughout New England, many of which became close friends. Douglas had a true gift for his career choice and could sell anything, as evidenced by the diversity of his roles. Early-on, he worked for Kellogg's, followed by Polaroid, and several different commercial truck companies, before settling into his role at Daimler-Freightliner, where he finished his career, retiring in 2015.

Douglas enjoyed all types of exploring; daily walks with Sheila, an early breakfast out (before the crowds), weekend adventures taking the 'old road' to the Maine coast, his favorite place in the world, where a portion of his ashes will be scattered. Douglas had a keen sense of humor, with a deep appreciation for a good Maine accent, in the style of 'Bert & I', which likely was inspired by spending summers on Little Sebago Lake as a kid. He was a caring father who instilled deeply-held values and traditions in his boys, which they carry forward in their own families. 'Granddaddy' adored each of his grandchildren and enjoyed watching their sports and activities, with his second-cup of coffee in-hand. His favorite adventure of the year was the annual family ski-trip to North Conway.

Friends and family are invited to calling hours on Friday, December 27, 2024 from 10:00 AM – 11:30 AM at the Carrier Family Funeral Home, 38 Range Road, Windham, NH 03087. A Funeral Service will begin in the funeral home at 11:30AM. A private interment will be held at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery.
