Donalyn Ashe
Mckee
Mar 11, 1940 — Feb 13, 2024
Fort Myers
While we wished for another year, month, day, minute, second, God had other plans and beloved wife, mother and grandmother, Donalyn (Donnie) Ashe McKee, passed away peacefully, after a long illness, on February 13, 2024, surrounded by her family.
Donalyn was born on March 11, 1940 in Nashua, New Hampshire to Harry and Katherine Ashe. The family moved to Williamstown, Vermont in 1950 after purchasing the former Elisha Gale home. Donalyn (Donnie) graduated from Williamstown High School in 1957. She met her soulmate, William A. McKee, and married in 1959. Together they raised three children on Hazel Street in Rutland, Vermont: James, Laurie and Jeffrey.
Her children brought her much joy and laughter. In addition to being a cherished spouse and mother, Donalyn adored her seven grandchildren, Carissa, Erica-Jenee and Deven McKee; Katherine Brown and Gillian Racine; and Dylan and Tyler McKee and her great-grand daughter, Celia Brown. Their love and laughter filled her heart to the brim. Donalyn was always there to provide her grandchildren with comfort, laughter, and plenty of cookies.
Throughout her working life, Donalyn enjoyed working at John A Russell Corporation, where she excelled, retiring to spend time in Fort Myers Beach, Florida which became her residence.
Donalyn was a long-time and active member of the Fort Myers Nazarene Church (now Anthem Church) and was active in her faith in Jesus, whether through home-cooked dinners and gatherings for others without family for the holidays, to baking Christmas cookies and delivering to those that were ailing and shut-in. Most recently, Donalyn had attended the Granite United Church in Haverhill, Massachusetts.
Donalyn's pie-making skills were unrivaled and she was still making pies through Thanksgiving of 2023. Her grandchildren's favorite pies were apple and chocolate cream and she would make them special for them.
Donalyn was predeceased by her parents, Harry and Katherine Ashe. She is survived by her siblings William Ashe of Barre, Vermont, and Carol Fumagalli of Northfield, Vermont; three children: James (Claudia) McKee of Groveland, Massachusetts; Laurie (Thomas) Racine of Ware, Massachusetts, and Jeffrey (Becky) McKee of Hubbardton, Vermont.
