Daniel H.
Emerson, Jr.
Jun 2, 1941 — Aug 26, 2023
Windham
Daniel H. Emerson, Jr, 82, passed away on Saturday, August 26th, 2023, at the Southern NH Medical Center.
Dan was born in Boston, MA on June 2, 1941, to Ruth Ursula (McDonough) Emerson and Daniel H. Emerson, Sr. He lived all of his school years in the Boston area. From the 7th grade to the 12th, he was most proud to attend The Boston Latin School. Upon graduation, Dan was commissioned to the United States Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Point, NY. After a year at the academy, he went to sea on many different ships and he traveled to several ports around the world. He did this for two years after which he decided that life at sea 365 days a year, away from family and friends was not where he wanted to be. He was hired at Berkshire Apparel as a Quality Control buyer and he stayed in that position for about ten years.
In 1963, he met Anne Humora at Moseley's on the Charles in Dedham, MA. She would be the girl who would become his wife. They married and lived in Roslindale, MA for five years before buying their first house in Tewksbury, MA in 1970. This was their home for thirty-three years. Dan, Anne and family became active members of St. Williams Church in Tewksbury, taught CCD, became Eucharistic Ministers and enjoyed the Couples Club. During this time, Dan worked at the Leather Shop in Concord, MA as a buyer for all kinds of leather. He traveled to South America and overseas to find the right quality leather to make the coats and jackets. When the Leather Shop relocated to Virginia, Dan opened and operated The Tewksbury Mailbox and Parcel Service for seven years. He sold the business and decided to try yet something new. He studied and successfully earned his Series 7 License and was hired at Fidelity Investments in Merrimack, NH as a stock broker. He worked in Customer Services and he also taught classes in the Roth which was his favorite. Dan was at Fidelity for ten years. In 2003, Dan and Anne moved to Windham, NH. He has been a devoted communicant of St. Mark the Evangelist Church and a proud member of Men of St. Joseph Ministry. Dan retired in 2007. He especially loved going for breakfast with his buddies on Wednesdays and ordering waffles with lots of fruit and a scoop of ice cream on top.
Health issues made walking difficult, and he purchased a scooter to get out and socialize within the development.
Dan was predeceased by his daughter Cheryl Anne Emerson
Dan leaves his wife, Anne of 58 years, son, Daniel and girlfriend Colette, daughter, Christine and her husband Gary, son, Mark and his wife, Alisha, son, Thomas and his wife, Tiffany. He also leaves grandsons, John, Eddie, Jacob, Steven, Zach and Kyle. Granddaughters, Kelly, Vanessa, Victoria, Ava, Cayleigh and Olivia.
