Obituary

Claudia Louise Bruce was born in New Haven, and grew up in Guilford, Connecticut. She graduated from Guilford High School in 1962, and went on to Boston University, where she earned her Bachelor's and Master's degrees in History and Political Science, and passed her doctoral examinations but chose not to complete her dissertation. Instead, given the academic employment climate of the time, she chose to earn a Masters of Management Science Degree  (an MBA) from Simmons College in Boston, now Simmons University, graduating in 1983.

She started her career as a high tech product manager for Continental Resources in Billerica, MA, and went on to become a product line manager for Wang Computer, and a Power Products Line Manager for DIgital Equipment Corporation over a 20 year period. After leaving Digital, she became an editor and program manager for Harvard Business School Publishing; she had previously worked for Harvard in the Mathematics department when earning her Masters at BU. Her "retirement job" was as a 6th, 7th, and 8th grade language arts and social sciences teacher and  the eighth grade homeroom teacher  at St. Joseph's Regional Catholic School in Salem, NH, retiring in 2021. In her non-professional life, she was an avid gardener and designer, president and webmaster of the Salem Garden Club for several years, and secretary of the Northern New England Star Section of the Mercedes -Benz Club of America. Claudia leaves behind her brother, Christian Bruce, of Northford CT, and her partner of 35 years, Drew Webb, of Salem, NH.
