Charles Anthony Andriolo, 77, of Derry, NH, passed away on May 13, 2026, at his home, surrounded by his loving family.

Son of the late Helen T. (Polizzi) Andriolo and the late Anthony (Tony) Andriolo, Charlie attended Woburn public schools. After school hours, was a very busy teenager, working in restaurants as a dishwasher, caterer, and a landscaper.

In June of 1966, he wanted to be a Marine like his dad. It was the Marine Corps globe and anchor tattoo on his dads' arm that made him gung-ho to join. Charlie went to Boot Camp at Paris Island, South Carolina and next, advanced infantry in North Carolina. Charlie was home for 30 days and celebrated his 18th birthday, when he received his orders to go to Camp Pendleton, California, for mortar man training for Vietnam.

Charles arrived in Vietnam early August 1967 to September 1968. He went over as a Private First Class, then made quick ranks to Sargent and Squad Leader. His secondary job was mortar man. He was then sent to Gitmo Bay, Cuba, to help train newer marines prepare for Vietnam combat. Charlie obtained these medals for his service in the U.S.M.C. National Defense Medal, Vietnamese Service Medal with 3 Gold Stars, Vietnamese Campaign Medal with device, Combat Action Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, Marksmanship Badge for M-14 Rifle, and a Letter of Exemplary Service. From active duty in July 1969, he went into inactive reserve as a sergeant, to train other new infantry men, and was given a promotion to Staff Sergeant in 1971 until the end of his term in 1972.

Charlie married the love of his life, Elizabeth A. (Hogan), whom he met at Hampton Beach, NH in 1969. Charles has three beautiful and wonderful daughters: Christen, Janelle, and Kelly.

After living in Woburn for sixty plus years, Charlie moved here to Derry, NH. Charlie was chaplain for the Woburn Marine Corps League in the eighties. While living here, Charlie became the chaplain for Derry VFW post 1617, chaplain for the American Legion post 9 Derry, a member of Halcyon Club in Derry, and was on the board for a term.

Charlie loved karate, M.M.A. fighting, football, going to Karaoke, and playing guitar, especially Stairway to Heaven. Charles enjoyed bringing the family camping and spending time by the campfire.

When Charlie got out of the Marines, he decided to be a welder. He attended the Medford, MA vocational school at night and worked a day job as an apprentice welder for three years, built refrigerated truck bodies in Woburn, then worked at General Dynamics, Quincy, MA, building Liquified Natural Gas ships. He also took electrical courses for 2 years at Medford Vocational night school. He took an oil burner class at Peterson school in Woburn and obtained a license to work on heating systems. Charlie also obtained an Oil Burner Tech License for NH.

Charlie became an ordained minister in 1979, so he could bring the word of God to Nursing Homes. He was in the prison ministry for 8 years as a chaplain at MCI Norfolk, Norfolk, MA and Bay State. Charlie took night courses at Middlesex Community College for Liberal Arts. Charlie also became a proud Ventriloquist and used his puppet at churches, nursing homes, the Boston children's hospital, and the Shriners hospital burn center.

In the 1990's he pursued emergency medical training, after seeing how the navy corpsman saved lives in Vietnam. Charlie was an EMT volunteer at the South Shore Hospital. Charlie decided to take courses and became certified as a Mass Examiner to test EMT students for their license.

After finding a job he loved at Abel/Womack Co in Charlie's hometown, he decided to make this his career for 37 years. He built overhead cranes from start to finish. Charlie loved fabricating, painting, wiring and testing them. He enjoyed working on forklifts. Charles was a American Welding Society Certified Welder, educator, and AWS Welding Inspector. Charlie was able to repair anything someone gave him. He built hot rods and was always tinkering with any mechanical items to make various tools and fixtures.

Charlie is survived by his wife of 51 years, Elizabeth Andriolo; his daughters, Christen (Andriolo) Sullivan and her husband Larry Sullivan, Janelle Andriolo, and Kelly (Andriolo) Hanlon and her husband Ryan Hanlon.

Grandchildren: Jenna Blackburn, Jacob Blackburn, Amber Sullivan, Joseph Sullivan, Tyler Hanlon, and Johnathan Hanlon.

Charlie has two surviving siblings, Rosemarie Clunk (Andriolo) and Anthony Andriolo.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, May 19th from 4 to 7pm, with a Funeral Service immediately following at 7pm, at the Carrier Family Funeral Home, 38 Range Road, Windham, NH 03087. Burial will be held on Tuesday, May 26th, at 1:00pm, at the NH State Veterans Cemetery, 110 DW Highway, Boscawen, NH.
