Brendan M. Delaney, 85, longtime resident of Hampton, NH, passed away surrounded by his loving family on September 15, 2024 at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston.
Brendan was born on November 25, 1938, to the late Frederick and Catherine (Daly) Delaney in Lowell, MA. He attended St. Michael's Grammar School and later graduated from Lowell High School. Following graduation, he served in the National Guard. Brendan then joined his family at New England Telephone Co, where he worked for over 40 years.
Brendan spent many years in Dracut, MA, raising his family and serving the town as both a volunteer fireman and as a member of the Dracut Board of Selectmen. He enjoyed spending his time with his kids at the beach, and going to the local car races at Hudson speedway. He was a member of the Dracut muster team and spent many fun days at local muster events as well as driving his own fire truck in local parades and giving rides around the town and the beach. He later moved to Hampton with his loving wife Helen. He enjoyed traveling with Helen, spending time at the beach, and swimming in the ocean. He loved spending time on projects around the house and yard. Brendan was also an animal lover and will be remembered walking his dogs, often giving treats to the neighborhood pets along his way.
Brendan is survived by his wife Helen (Despres) Decubellis-Delaney; his daughters Kathleen Sylvester, Ellen Cregg and her longtime partner Rick Proulx, Gail McCarthy and her husband James and Lisa Brouillette and her husband Dennis; his step daughters Cathy Desmarais and her husband Scot and Christine Decubellis and her longtime partner Ted Dowgiert; his sister Linda Prevenas and his sister-in-law Shirley Delaney; his 19 grandchildren and 37 great-grandchildren, and 1 great- great grandchild.
He is predeceased by his son B. Michael Delaney; his daughter Donna Tsoumbanikas; his grandson James McCarthy; great grandson Kayden, and his siblings Sally Sawyer, Frederick Delaney and Brian Delaney.
Friends and family are invited to calling hours on Friday, September 20, 2024, from 9 – 11AM at the Carrier Family Funeral Home, 38 Range Road, Windham, NH 03087. A funeral service will begin in the funeral home at 11AM. Interment will follow at the Varnum Cemetery in Dracut, MA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Brendan's memory to a charity of your choice.
