Blaine Colin Wotring, "Dad", "Pop", "BC", "SGT" and sometimes "Fred", born 26 March 1942 in Allentown, PA, second son to Lee C. and Elizabeth E. (Markell) Wotring, passed on Friday, 21 April 2023 in Methuen, MA after a few long difficult months. In his youth, he loved fishing and racing (and repairing) Alpha Romeos with his brother, Terry. In his 20's, he enlisted in the US Air Force and as an engineer spent his years readying F-4 Phantom I and II's prior to missions in Libya and the UK. With honorable discharge, he enrolled at the University of Connecticut (UCONN) and earned his baccalaureate in Electrical Engineering. There, he met Cheryl (Cook) Wotring, courting her for 8 years. His persistence paid off and they were married in July 1976, sharing 31 years together until her passing in June 2007. During that time, they had 3 daughters, and made their life in Watertown, CT, Itaca, NY, North Andover, MA, eventually settling in Derry, NH in 1996. In February 2008, he married Sheila Duram, family friend and fellow UConn alum, whom he shared the last 15 contented retirement years in Sandown, NH, travelling in their red convertible as much as possible.

In his adult career, he held high executive positions, but he was happiest and most successful innovating and inventing in a lab, as his basement workbenches always reflected. He was issued several U.S. and international patents for innovations relative to heat sink fans and electronic cooling systems. His greatest invention, joy and source of pride, though, he would say, was his family. Quickly, the 3 became 6 as the daughters married, and he welcomed their husbands as sons. Then the 6 became 14 with the births of his 8 grandchildren in 5 years. With the family close in proximity, every occasion was ripe with laughter, joy, big bonfires, and Scotch.

He had all the best qualities of a man with character: integrity, honesty, intelligence, wit, fortitude, gentleness, class. He offered sage counsel when asked, was a marvelous dancer, a sharp dresser, and was the most kind and caring father and grandfather.

Blaine will be terribly missed by his survivors: Sheila (Duram) Wotring (wife), his (3) daughters, Elizabeth and Michael O'Neil of Londonderry, NH, Jennifer and David Medlock of Exeter, NH, Meredith and Eli Touma of Derry, NH, and his (8) grandchildren Sabrina, Jonathan, Sarah, Noelle, Heidi, Kathryn, Gwyneth, and Amanda, as well as his (3) step-children, Natalie, Dana and Michael Gee, (5) step-grandchildren and (3) step-greatgrandchildren. He is also survived by his older brother Terry Wotring of Plainville, CT, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Friends and family are invited to visit Carrier Funeral Home, Windham, NH on Thursday, 27 April between 9-11 am with service commencing at 11am. Private interment will follow at a later date.
