Anthony Machera, 88, of Phoenix, AZ, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 12, 2024. Born on August 15, 1936, in Lawrence, MA, he was the beloved son of the late Anthony and Margaret (Annaldo) Machera.

Anthony spent his formative years in Lawrence, where he graduated from Lawrence High School. He went on to receive his degree in mechanical engineering from Lowell Tech, laying the foundation for a successful career in the field. He worked as an aerospace engineer for Avco, ITEK and other NASA contractors during the Gemini and Apollo space programs.

In his leisure time, Anthony found joy in fishing and cherished moments spent at the American-Italian Club in Phoenix, where he enjoyed the camaraderie of friends. Known affectionately as "Peppers," he was renowned for his infectious humor and vibrant personality, leaving a lasting impression on all who knew him.

Anthony is survived by his loving children: Mark Machera and his wife Rachel of Reading, MA; Michael Machera and his wife Kim of Haverhill, MA; Matthew Machera and his wife Mindy of Swampscott, MA; and Marlene Sheehy and her partner Ron Doncaster. He will be fondly remembered by his grandchildren: Daniel, Casey, Lucca, Donald, Liam, and Kyle. Anthony is also survived by his dear siblings, Joseph Machera and Mary Norcia.
